More Ireland Tales

We have covered a good part of Southern Ireland over the first three days of the tour. From Dublin we travelled over to the western coast, en route calling into the Ireland National Horse Stud! Not our first choice of visit, but interesting nevertheless. Also on the stud farm was a Japanese Garden to explore. A strange combination!

Our lunch stop was Cashel, a delightful little town which we had fun exploring before continuing on to Tipperary, Limerick and our destination for the night, Ennis. Also an attractive town which we had fun looking around.

The following day we went into the area known as the “Wild Atlantic Way” and the Cliffs of Moher first and it was wild. Gale force winds on top of the cliffs made it a rather dangerous expedition, and there were times we could hardly stand up.

But survived the experience to move on for a farm visit. A lesson in scone-making was on the agenda! I now know how to bake a scone the Irish way apparently! Surprised at the very low number of us who had ever made a scone!

Today we have been around the Ring of Kerry, a picturesque part of Ireland and well worth the look.

We are now in Killarney for the night.

Barbara

I have been (quietly) going through my repertoire of Irish songs – Molly Malone, It’s a long way to Tipperary, Galway Bay …have yet to break out my Daniel O’Donnell renditions much to Barbara’s  relief!!  I could have sung “a tumblin, a tumblin, a tumblin down” at the Cliffs of Moher.  We must have looked quite comical being blown sideways, backwards, forwards, and clutching onto any sturdy object.  The photos belie how rough it was. The weather today has been “changeable, moist” – two of the most common words used by locals to describe the weather, but it has not spoilt our trip around the Ring of Kerry and seeing the blue lakes of Killarney.

We are spending most of our time eating and drinking! Can’t be all bad.
